I was doing a bit of digging around in the subdomains of google and came across a google mobile maps page. Nothing on there to download, but if you follow the instructions below (from the page) you'll be able to add fully functional worldwide google maps with map view, satellite view, routing - everything to any java-enabled phone.
It's identical to the google maps website and in my opinion is amazing. It's going to be so useful - I can use it in London (a global search for "Camden" took me straight to the London site) and in New York etc.
1. Activate your GPRS web browser on your phone (mine's a Sony Ericsson K750i)
2. Enter the URL: www.google.com/gmm
3. Agree to download the tiny 93K file
4. Map away!
It's free from Google, but you'll pay yuor carrier/network for the data transfer (as with any data transfer)
